The Bitterroot Salish people have lived on for many generations by passing down history not only orally but visually. This class will give you the opportunity to learn about some of the history of the people as well as give you the opportunity to “paint your own story”. You will have the chance to learn some of the oral history of the Bitterroot Salish people from M. Charlie Quequesah, a direct descendent of one of the 4 personal scouts to Chief Joseph. He will share a little bit of his family history with you, his historical knowledge as well as some songs as he is the current “Song Keeper” of the Salish people on the Flathead Reservation. You will have the chance to “paint your own story” on a paper teepee that you will construct during this time. Each participant will have a chance to share their artwork and stories with the class at the end. Ages 5 & up and families welcome.
