Forest "Bathing" (literally: shinrin-yoku. Shinrin in Japanese means “forest,” and yoku means “bath.” So shinrin-yoku means bathing in the forest atmosphere, or taking in the forest through our senses.) This is a new wellness practice in which one moves very slowly through nature with all senses open, making discoveries of the wonder-filled kind. It is not a naturalist walk nor a hike for exercise (we may only walk about 300 yards). We slow down on purpose to let our bodies heal from daily stress . Forty years of research shows how Forest Therapy can lower blood pressure and heart rate, lower stress hormone cortisol, boosts your immune system and can be helpful for those with anxiety and depression. Join Montana's first Certified Forest Therapy Guide, Deborah Goslin, for a 1.5 hour introduction to Forest Bathing at River Park in Hamilton. Maximum of 10. Must sign up through the Library prior to the walk for more details.
